| Just had a fairly relaxed weekend which was nice. Spent Saturday evening at Helen's cousin Nicola's with the family and a chinese. The kids are awesome and we had fun just hanging out and playing with the kids. Sunday Helen's other cousin, Ryan, was finally laid to rest in Burley in Wharfedale, with his mum. A sad but poignant day. We met everyone in the Malt Shovel for a couple of drinks following the short service they had. Then we headed home and spent much of the rest of the day just chillaxing! My virus on the pc seems to have cleared now, having re-formatted, which was no mean feat for me in XP lol, but we're back on track now, just busy re-populating iTunes etc! Have also decided I need to lose weight again. I have a few things I want to have a go at but realised that fat knackers aren't usually very succesful at any of them so here go's again! Plus it's only about 5 weeks til we head out to Spain so might as well try to look the part at last! Day one today - let's see how it goes. | | |
| Got back last night from a great Bank Holiday weekend in London with my gorgeous other half. We travelled down Saturday morning, staying in the Holton Metropole. Saturday night we had dinner at Planet Hollywood before heading across town to see the awesome We Will Rock You. If you haven't seen this show yet you really should. It's awesome. We had a great night. Sunday morning we thought we'd pop down and see Queenie at Buck House. Walked through Green Park and there was lots of fences on the Mall and diversions and security etc, looking like something was going off. We stood around and decided it must be one of the free party's for the 2012 handover from Beijin so we thought cool, let's stick around and go in. 30 minutes later the gates opened and every single person around us produced a ticket or two. Queue Nick and Connell shuffling our way sideways across the middle of around 5000 people to get out! We headed to Trafalger Square instead! We did the sights on Sunday, down to the South Bank to see some cool street artists. There were some pretty cool breakdancers which was good. then up past Parliament and Westminster Cathedral. Dinner Sunday night at L'Ulivo in Leicester Square was nice, a nice little Italian, Pizza and beer is always good! Monday we finally got to hang with the Royals before hitting the shopping district and finally Covent Garden before hitting the road around 4. Good times. | | |
| A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he silently picked up a very large, empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly and the pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes". The professor then produced two beers from under the table and poured he entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. "now", the professor said as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognise that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favourite passions. If everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else, the small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golfballs. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit your grandparents. Take time to get medical check-ups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand." One of the students raised her hand and asked what the beers represented. The professor smiled and said, "I'm glad you asked. The beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem there's always room for a couple of beers with a friend." | | |
| Was out last night with the team I've just left. Good times, beer and nacho's followed by Karaoke! Finally made it to Friday and only need to get through today now and then it's game on for hitting the Big Smoke and some Londinium action. Can't wait! | | |
